You're already winning one at 250, is that a 275 bid on the other?

    + b/l on all level 7 maps(25k)

also, no bid on C, madhatcher is a guildie and i dont bid up guildies, just forgot to delete that when i copy/pasted.

P.S. I didn't get a notification on this thread, for future reference if a bid of mine doesnt go thru, please PM me on irc and let me know, I almost lost out of these for not seeing the b/l and not knowing i wasn't the leading bid.

Well I guess I'll play this game too and wait until it's almost over to place a valid bid.

I placed my bid alot sooner just didn't see the b/l, there's no game. If you wanna wait to bid, that is fine honestly. It's not like any of us will be running the maps anytime soon anyway. I think i have 10-15 of the things already saved up haha

Tallic messaged me advising that the bid on 'C' from Dyne came at the exact minute that he posted his, so he feels he held the high bid for 24 hours. I can see his point of view, but I feel that the auction should end at 8:01 to guarantee the bid was held for 24 hours - am I fair in saying this?

I don't care about the extra money, I just want to host a fair auction.

if you wanted it to end at 24 hours 1 minute then you should've said the auction will end at 24 hours and 1 minute after the last bid. When people are watching their bid hoping they hold it long enough to win it they aren't praying the clock rolls around til 1 minute after their 24 hour mark. If they placed a bid at 3pm, they await 3pm the next day. not 3:01

Timers are for the seller to know when to sell his item, not for the buyer to lock in a bid so that the bidder can get it for as cheap as possible.

You can do it however you want gossow, its not a huge issue to me at all. I would have bid earlier but wasn't going to bid up my fellow guildie madhatcher. But since Tallic had already bid him up, i went ahead and decided to bid.

So it wasn't that I waited until the last minute, it was that I didn't check the thread because I got no notification that anyone else had bid on the thread, which happens to me alot.

In closing...it's up to the seller to decide how they want to do it. We don't host these auctions/sales so that the buyer can get something for as cheap as they can. We host them to sell our wares, in a timely manner and know when to actually end it.

You can go ahead and sell it to Tallic, but when people whine about 1 minute, 5 minutes or even 10 minutes, it just shows a bit of greed IMO. The buyer should be happy that the seller can get more for their goods. I dunno, maybe I'm the only one that sees it like that. but technically, if he bid at 3.00pm and 48 seconds and i bid at 3:00pm and 42 seconds, it hadn't been 24 hours yet. So you can see it from both angles.

Hence the confusion on my part!

I am going to consider the auction still open. If you don't want to continue bidding Tallic, I understand, but if I were in your shoes although I'd get excited that the bid reached the minute the bid was placed 24 hours later, I'd understand that if I got outbid there would be the chance that I didn't hold it for 24 hours. It's not like the auction can be sniped, due to the 24 hour extension.

That, and I'm sure that Dyne didn't post this late intentionally to anger other bidders.

Exactly, Had I seen that my bids weren't accepted, I was obviously looking at the thread to bid at 2:56 because I had wrote that I didn't want to bid on the axe because madhatcher had the bid, but right after that post i noticed that it had been upbid, therefore I bid. I didn't even look at the time.

But like I said, it's not important enough to me to cause people to fuss about. It really isn't lol Not everyone has the forums linked to their phones and checks them constantly looking for that super good deal to get someone on. I maybe look at them a few times a day and I read the top 5-10 threads usually and that's it. If i don't get a notification about a buried thread, I don't go back to it.

Something really needs to be investigated and find out if there's a way to make the forum act in a more user friendly manner...or maybe I just need to break down and link it to my phone like other "forum vultures" do.

P.S. Why does this spellchecker say that "axe" is misspelled and wants me to spell it "ax"? Is "axe" the old English equivalent of the word so it's coming up as spelled wrong?

Dyne, I outbid you, not madhatcher. You seemingly outbid your own guildy even though you're saying I did. Just because you can't get your bids straight to realize who bid what when and where isn't my problem so don't accuse me of being the first to outbid a guildy when you set the example in the post before mine. I don't need any notifications to know who bid on an item. I do the old fashioned thing and open the thread up. I'll quote some things for you since you're out in left field with a lot of this shit.

Even the thread owner was wondering what was going on here because it was open for interpretation. I took it as you were outbidding Madhatcher on the axe so your rule about not bidding up guildies was broken (I joined the guild 2 days ago and I wasn't even privy to this rule. I am only learning of it through this incident so when I saw you outbid madhatcher I didn't think anything was out of place). I outbid you by putting in my bid of 100k and you were on for almost 24 hours posting, talking to me in irc, being active in general. You would think if there was anything happening in the thread that we weren't correct on you'd set us straight. You didn't, so it was safe to assume me outbidding you was legitimate and you had intentionally tried to outbid madhatcher, you just put 70k instead of 75k, hence Gossow questioning you with no response on your end. I outbid you to erase the questions that Gossow had, making them irrelevant...

Again, in hindsight we now know you didnt get any notifications so you had no idea what was going on in the thread until exactly 24 hours after my post, when all these quotes transpired, and you outbid me based on the claim "he outbid a guildy, so im outbidding him". well, to reitterate, I outbid you, not madhatcher. so you can see why I'm saying your argument holds no water as you were the one who outbid a guildy.

Btw, to anyone reading this, all 3 of us were guildies prior to this event so that's why this outbidding rule is thrown into this thread for public viewing.

And one other thing, I think I speak for 99% of the people when I say the buyers do not try to get the sellers as much money as they can possibly get at the expense of our own wallets. You are by far in the minority regarding all the stuff you wrote on this very topic, all of which I will not bother to quote. I'm not greedy either, I'm just not into throwing away money. I'm not going to address it further except hope you understand everyone here buying items wants a deal and wants a deal at the lowest possible price. Not everyone has millions at their disposal to throw around on bids. Not everyone can be the benefactor of hatecrime quitting the server again. yafeel me..... brotha?
