This is a spot I used for the late 90s taming grind. Simply recall onto this tile in Fire level 2 and monsters can't hit you. You will still have to heal fire breath attacks. You can mark the spot and gate in two people so you can do retames with ease. Just be ready to invis the hounds/cats after you release them to stop them from killing each other. I used my bard to lure all the hell hounds/cats to the spot. It is also handy to lure over a lava serpent to kill the tames if you are alone, but beware because their fire breath attacks hit harder.
