I know you block obsene and suggestive character names, which I applaud you for. What about character names that are not names, but are descriptions of animals and creatures that are in the game? I think we all know why someone would create a character named "a cat," or "a dog," "an alligator," etc. I have seen examples of this already here on UORen. Any word on whether this will continue to be allowed? If someone wants to use fictitious names, the game allows for this in two ways. First, one can use the incognito spell. This will give them a new, randomly generated, name for a short period of time before their name returns to normal. Incognito is a Fifth Circle spell and lasts approximately two minutes. While in effect, the incognito spell temporarily blocks the character's guild affiliation (if applicable). The other way of traveling inconspiculously is to make use of a disguise kit. Disguise kits are only available to thieves that are members of the Thieves' Guild.
The point of it is for PvPers to get chuckles when their party text says 'XXXX was killed by a rabbit!' I don't see anything wrong with people naming their characters after animals in the game. Just tell yourself they're RPing shamans and those are their spirit creatures. Problem solved!
While I get what you're going for, I do not agree with it as it feels like forced RP. Forcing someone to be decent is one thing that I agree with. Forcing them to be mature or play 'in character', is not.
how is that forced? do you even read posts before you reply, why would you not agree with someone naming their character after a animal in game, it's not forced anyone can name their characters w/e they want. Sometimes I think you just post for drama.
Should I ask if you proof-read what you write? Or even whether or not you bother reading what you're responding to more than once to ensure you understand what it is you're saying in response? The original post was asking whether or not the rules would go beyond the current scope, and extend to names that are clearly not human names. I was saying that I like the idea (thus, I agree), but that restricting people to only using realistic human names is 'forced RP', which I do not like (I disagree, in part). Is there anything else you're not clear on, or should I go on?
Particularly the ones who edit quotes in order to take things out of context. You're a complete imbecile and somehow think copy/pasta quotes and pics from the internet that attempt to denigrate other's intellect makes you look like the smart one. I'll give you a hint: Attempt to formulate a response that includes relevant information, preferably worded in such a way that other human English speakers can comprehend.
Blaise you just never shut up do you lol even when you were just made to look stupid. I give up , can't argue with someone who doesn't understand common sense. Congratz, I've argued with alot of people in my life time but never gave up because someone was that dumb they gave me a headache GJ.
Please, in your infinite wisdom, oh grand poobah of the internet, show me exactly where that happened? No one else on these forums sees it, so I'm content in the deduction that you're completely fabricating whatever results you desire, in your own mind. In which case, you are winning and for that, I applaud you. Have you actually posted anything valid in response to a thread here? Or is it all just insult and slander based on things that just simply aren't happening in anyone else's eyes but yours?
Your argument is so sound and well composed, I concede to you sir. Whatever it is you're arguing for, I'm on your side now and agree completely. POST MOAR PICZ PLZ
Hmm, I did not intend to start WWIII here. I went back and re-read my original post and it still does not appear to be complaining. I asked for information on questionable naming practices. Someone said it was so PvP'ers could laugh at someone being killed by "a rabbit." Actually, most individuals that practice this do so to trick others into attacking them so they (the attacker) will be guard-whacked. I do not see this as an illegal practice, just a questionable one. My post was intended as merely a question, complete with facts (of what I have seen here) and alternatives. I do appologize for ruffling the feathers of a few rabbits, dogs, and cats.
I think that if you can trick someone in to attacking you by the name you chose, then that's a fair tactic to use. I really think it's going overboard telling people what they can or can't name themselves (besides obvious obscenity that may offend someone). That being said, Double Vision, quit while your NOT ahead. You're making yourself look ridiculous. You miss read someone else's post harshly claiming they had made the same mistake! Then after being called out, you tried everything in the book to make the other guy look stupid. From your very first post I couldn't tell what the hell you were talking about because you had miss read what he had said.
